Souris River Canoes
Souris River Canoes was originated in September 1985 by Keith Robinson. The first Manufacturing facility was located on the banks of the Souris River in Manitoba. The company continued in Souris until it moved in July 1992 to Atikokan, Ontario.
Atikokan was chosen mostly for its close proximity to Quetico Park which encompasses some of the most beautiful canoeing in the world.
From the beginning, much time and energy was spent on research and development. The focus was on trying to find materials and a resin and stiffening system that would produce an incredibly lightweight and tough canoe.
Like all good research work, the process has required a great deal of time, patience, and perseverance but these efforts have resulted in some astonishing discoveries: the development of
- R.E.S. Technology®,
- Kevlar®/Epoxy,
- Duralight®,
- and a revolutionary Flexible Rib System for stiffening the hulls of our canoes.
Unique Multi-Ply Kevlar Canoe
Light and TOUGH.
